The contender's clean design and thoughtful innovations make it a tremendous buy for the experienced shooter, as well as the novice that wants to get into varmint or target shooting or even long range hunting. The combination of its many shooting features alone, make it a best seller, not counting its clean appearance and the sharpness of its lenses. No one else offers a target/hunting scope of this quality with as many nice touches for the money as BSA.

The BSA winged logo is engraved and anodized in black on the eyebell. The large engraved numerals on the power ring have been slightly angled toward the shooter. This makes them more visible and easier to see when you are in a shooting position.

The objective and occular lenses are multicoated to make your target look brighter and give it more contrast. The coatings also help to reduce bright glare and reflections. Another nice touch is the no-slip knob on the focusing ring in case you might be wearing gloves. The focusing ring, the wind and elevation knobs, and the power ring are trimmed in Shadow Black. The scope body is matte black anodized. The focusing mechanism on the adjustable objective lens is designed so that it is possible to focus as sharply at 10 yards as it is at 300 yards.

The Contender has finger adjustable windage and elevation knobs. Most scopes have 1/4 MOA click adjustments, but the Contender has 1/8 MOA click adjustments to provide the most precise adjustment possible. The caps can be removed so that the turret knobs can be re-set to zero.

Here's an example of how the re-set to zero knobs work. Sight in your rifle for windage and elevation (say at 100 yards) at the range. Then reset the knob to zero. When in the field shooting, and you want pinpoint accuracy at 300 yards, just dial up. After shooting that distance, redial back to zero (your original mark). It makes distant shooting simpler.
