Bud Nealy is an internationally recognized
member of the Knifemakers’ Guild whose most popular sheath knife for many
years has been his Pesh-Kabz (pesh cobbs) design. He adapted it from a
15th century Persian knife with a blade grind designed to penetrate chain
mail— a use today’s knife owners never encounter. But the result is a work
knife with an incredibly strong full thickness tip. To create his first folding knife design, Bud integrated an open version of our strong and rigid InterFrame build, assembled with stainless steel spacers and Torx® fasteners. It uses dual 420J2 stainless steel liners, one locking, and injection molded black Zytel scales textured similarly to Bud’s custom models. The dual checkered thumb studs are the blade stop. Combined with the “flipper” blade guard, they allow fast ambidextrous one-hand opening. This design also results in a deep finger choil for grip. The special blade grind leaves the full 0.12” blade width near the tip for exceptional strength and penetrating power. Made of satin finished AUS 6M stainless steel, blades are available with Razor-Sharp or Combination Razor-Sharp and Triple-Point™ Serrated edges. Aggressive grooves at the spine and flipper give great feel and security. Like all CRKT locking liner folders, the Pesh-Kabz features Teflon® bearings at the blade pivot for smooth action. Mindful of the Pesh-Kabz’s fixed blade origins, we’ve also incorporated the patented* Lake And Walker Knife Safety (LAWKS®), which converts the folder to a virtual fixed blade when actuated with a flick of the thumb. During his first career as a drummer on Broadway and with top performers from Connie Francis to Kenny Rodgers, Bud traveled the world and has a keen sense of history. The unique curved Persian motif of the removable stainless steel pocket/gear clip on the Pesh-Kabz is a good example of his scholarship. It looks whimsical at first, but turns out to fit the hand perfectly. Like its name, the Pesh-Kabz is a bit unusual, combining contrasting shapes into a knife that is at once lightweight yet very strong, attractive yet entirely purposeful. |
