ARMORTEK BELT SLOT HOLSTER
Galco first started experimenting
with thermoplastic holsters in the mid 70’s. We found that kydex, a
thermoplastic first developed for wall coverings, and widely used in
other fields, simply did not make into a good holster! Exposure to
direct sunlight, heat and freezing temperatures all took their toll, and
often resulted in cracking or warping of the holster. Despite all its
faults, kydex is to this day still used as a holster material by a small
number of custom makers and some larger manufacturers. Twenty years of
subsequent experimentation and major improvements in thermoplastics has
yielded ARMORTEK, a custom-mix of glass-filled nylon and
elastomers made for Galco International, Inc.—our answer to the kydex
holster of yesterday. ARMORTEK can be formed into a holster that
meets Galco’s rigorous standards for quality and durability, and stands
up to the elements as well as to all the normal abuse of full-time law
enforcement use.
Simply put, it is an inexpensive, almost maintenance-free and
water-friendly holster that can be easily disinfected if contaminated. |
