Tripods can be awkward to carry into
the field, yet trekking poles don't have the utility of a tripod.
Enter Leupold's Trek Pod II.
Use it as a height-adjustable
trekking pole, and when needed, three legs flair out, making it a
free-standing optics mount. Where the tripod meets the pole, there's
a pivot that adjusts to uneven terrain. At the top is a powerful
magnetic optics mount, and you get two additional magnets which you
can attach to any optics with threaded mounts. It's so secure, you
can still walk with your spotting scope or camera still attached to
the Trek Pod II. Lightweight, with a dark brown anodized finish,
it's rugged enough to use anywhere.
