Air is constantly drawn downward past the items of evidence, through the open mesh work surface and up through a rear plenum chamber to a pre-filter and main filter and returned to the room. There is a light inside the unit to illuminate your work. Tilt or rotate the evidence under the light to view the developed latent prints before photographing or lifting them. Open access to the work area from three sides offers exceptional flexibility for working on long items, such as rifles and shotguns. Just move the items back and forth over the open mesh work area to pull the excess powder away from you while dusting. This unit allows the ends of the evidence to extend beyond the edges of the unit. The work surface is deep enough to provide a non-perforated area at the back of the unit for the storage of powders and brushes.

Filters are available in either full- or half-height sizes. If you use the full height filters, purchase a HEPA filter if you are working exclusively with powders and purchase a Hydrocarbon filter if you are dealing exclusively with solvents. If you are dealing with powders AND solvents, you may wish to consider purchasing two half-height filters (one HEPA filter and one Hydrocarbon filter), to eliminate the hassle of having to switch filters for each substance.
