UV Face Shield

This high-intensity lamp has the highest output of all our UV lamps. It comes with an eight-foot primary cord, an eight-foot secondary cord and a transformer base. The lamp head easily detaches from the metal handle of the transformer base for comfortable, hand-held use. For bench use, the lamp head mounts on the transformer base in a vertical position.

Both the lamp head and base are housed in high-impact polymer. The 365 nm spot bulb provides a concentrated beam with an operating intensity of 4,800 mW/cm2 at 15 inches. A heat guard/stand is recommended as it helps protect against accidental burn injury. It acts as a stand so that the lamp head may be placed filter-side down on a level surface without damage to the lamp.

This new unit is an ideal portable "darkroom" for all applications requiring high-contrast fluorescence analysis. It is perfect when lab space is at a premium. The cabinet is constructed of rugged aluminum, is lightweight, and fully portable. The felt curtain permits easy access to the interior while blocking out ambient light. Visible illumination is provided by an interior white light source. Both the ultraviolet lamp and white light source are controlled by switches conveniently located on the top of the cabinet. The cabinet holds either one or two 8-watt lamps. Each lamp is instantly removable for hand-held applications. A flexible contoured eyepiece, together with a built-in UV-absorbing window, eliminates "blue haze" interference, increases contrast between the fluorescent area and the background, and reduces eye fatigue. Optional equipment and accessories for the FLS 5000:

450 nm filter: Superior for locating physiological fluids. Highest rated.filter for the detection of bite marks, bruising and other subcutaneous marks. View the area using yellow goggles.

525 nm filter: This filter has emission closely matching that of the argon ion, doubled Nd:YAG and copper vapor lasers. Use with virtually all fluorescent powders and dyes. It provides another setting for the examiner to decrease background fluorescence, particularly on dark surfaces.

400 nm filter: This new UV filter is superior in the detection of.physiological fluids. The FBI recommends this wavelength when using Ardrox dye stain and other UV powders and dyes.

700 nm filter: This IR filter is used by Questioned Document Examiners for the examination of altered documents using IR photographic techniques or using an IR-sensitive video.

Fiber optic cable: Ultra-reliable and flexible 8 mm fiber optic cable with handpiece in a convenient length of 2 meters.

Liquid light guide: Offers optimum light output. Yellow wraparound viewing goggles: Use with the 400 and the 450 nm filter.

The Forensic PAL (Personal Alternate Light) is a state-of-the-art portable light. Four, super-bright, blue-light-emitting diodes (LEDs) use three AA batteries and are housed in a rugged flashlight-style case. This light is powerful, yet small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. Solid-state and shockproof, the Forensic PAL has a unique design for an almost unbelievable battery life, lasting up to 300 hours without a significant decrease in power output.

Like other blue-light-emitting light sources used to visualize latent prints and other physical evidence, it is necessary for the examiner to wear orange goggles which are included in the kit. Darken the room or area, shine the light at various surfaces where physical evidence might be found. Photograph and collect the evidence. Use the PAL to see latent prints developed with fluorescent powders and dyes. Photograph them with an orange filter on the camera lens.

The estimated life of the batteries is 300 hours without a significant decrease in power output. The estimated lifetime of the LEDs is about 11 years. The Forensic PAL is waterproof to two feet and has been shocktested with a drop test of ten feet. There is a three year warranty on the unit, excluding the batteries. The unit comes in a hardside case and includes two pairs of orange goggles. The Forensic PAL is 7" long, 1" in diameter and weighs only 5 ounces.

Forensic PAL (Personal Alternate Light)

Lasers aren't new, but having the power of a portable laser with different output wavelengths is. Here is a compact, ergonomically-designed portable laser with a remarkable handpiece control. You control the wavelength selection along with turning the light off and on AT THE HANDPIECE. You can be standing at the full distance of the light delivery cable and operate the unit with the handpiece rather than going over to the unit to change settings.

You can take this unit to the crime scene to search for latent fingerprints, body fluid stains, hair, fibers, drug residue, and other types of physical evidence which may fluoresce. You can also find non-fluorescing evidence by looking for dark items on a fluorescing background. Because of the power of this unit, photography is easy. Just use the same colored filter on your camera lens as the the color of goggle you are viewing the evidence with.

The SceneSweeper™ Portable Argon Laser gives you the power of a laser at any crime scene. It has the necessary safety requirements, such as a removeable key control pad to prevent the use by unauthorized personnel. Also, the power cord wraps up inside for safety purposes and for convenience in storage and transporting. While the instrument panel inside the case is convenient to use, the handpiece also has a convenient control panel on it.
