The concept of the single-use filter nozzle is to prevent cross-contamination from one crime scene to the next or from one piece of evidence at the same crime scene to another piece of evidence. The old method of using a nozzle, removing the filter catching the evidence, putting in a new filter and using the same nozzle again is a very poor evidence collection procedure.

Unless you are able to clean the nozzle in a cleanroom setting between each use at the crime scene, you cannot guarantee that the filter was not contaminated. A defense attorney would be able to successfully demonstrate that the evidence was not properly collected and you might lose your case in court.

You can use this vacuum with or without the hose. If you do not need the hose, attach the filter nozzle directly to the end of the vacuum. If you need the length of hose to get under a bed or other piece of furniture, attach the hose to the vacuum and attach the filter nozzle to the hose.

Submit the entire filter nozzle to the laboratory for examination. By using a clean, sealed filter nozzle for every collection, you are guaranteeing that your evidence will not be contaminated.
