This cabinet, available in two
sizes, dries evidence and protects all personnel from airborne hazards.
Simply place evidence on one of the shelves in the cabinet or hang clothing.
Close and lock the door to preserve the chain-of-custody. Turn on the fan
and allow the moisture to evaporate. The hazardous components are trapped in
the filtering system. These cabinets do not require any ducting to an
outside wall. The standard
cabinet (left) is 30" wide x 24" deep x 84" high. The large cabinet (right)
is 60" wide x 24" deep x 84" high. Each contains a white
chemically-resistant fiberglass liner with smooth, rounded corners to
prevent trace evidence from being trapped in the corners and being carried
over from case to case, and for easy cleaning with bleach solutions. The
outside construction is polyurethane-coated aluminum frame and head assembly
with an aluminum base support. There is a clear Lexan door, a stainless
steel coat rack, and a built-in drain.
Each style cabinet is corrosion
proof, has a locking door, and an alarm to detect low air flow, and is
ductless in design. There are particulate pre-filters in the lower door
grill and the main filter inlet, a HEPA filter (two in the large unit),
chemisorptive carbon filter (two in the large unit) and an after filter for
maximum protection. The visible safety alarms indicate whether the system is
functioning properly, whether it is necessary to replace the door
pre-filter, main HEPA filter or the after filter. The units have washdown
capabilities with optional plumbing and hoses. The shelves shown in the
photographs and clothing separators are available for purchase separately.
Another option is the Formalin sterilizer for use when the HEPA filter is
exhausted.
While collecting and preserving
all of the evidence from crime scenes is important, safety for the personnel
storing the evidence is also important. Here is a piece of equipment which
helps ensure that safety. |
