The legs are manufactured out of Easton 7075-T9 tent pole, cut into short segments, and internally shock corded together. This is the same material and technology that has been utilized by the finest tent manufactures for the past 30 years. After removing the Leg Unit from its holster, simply remove the Velcro leg tether holding the segments together, and let the segments drop straight down. A special double radius chamfer is applied to both ends of each segment to aid in the this process. With experience, the process of the segments snapping together can only be measured in milliseconds. Most times the process is hard to see with the naked eye. Attaching the Leg Unit to the SSU is simple matter. First be sure the main pin is pulled out to clear the slot for engagement with the SSU. Next slip the Let Unit onto the protruding blade of the SSU. Last push the pin. The pin is designed to be easily operated, even with heavy mittens. No twisting or turning, just simple push-pull.
A special "rotation release lever" is incorporated in the head of the Leg Unit. This lever has a hook that mates with a similar hook cast into the SSU. When mated, the SnipePod's legs are held perpendicular to the firearm. However many hunting conditions require changes of position, or lengthy stalks. Simply pressing the "rotation release lever" allows the SnipePod's legs to rotate back, parallel to the rifle. When the desired shot presents itself, the shooter just needs to drop to the sitting (or prone) position, and rotate the legs back to the perpendicular position. The "rotation release lever" once again engages with the hook in the SSU, and holds the legs in position.
Height adjustment is accomplished by simply varying the spread of the legs. The closer together the feet, the higher the firearm will be. And the further spread out the feet, the lower the firearm will be. |
