Preparing
the firearm for using the SnipePod
The SnipePod is comprised
of two major assemblies. The Surrogate Sling Unit (SSU), and the Leg
Unit.
SSU Attachment to the Firearm
The SSU is pre attached to the firearm before a hunting trip, and
remains on the firearm during the field trip. It is manufactured out of
316 Stainless Steel, and contains a elliptical shaped hole that allows
it to fit over the head of any industry standard Q.D. sling stud. To
attach the SSU to the firearm
-
Temporarily remove any sling swivel from the Q.D. sling stud,
-
Place the SSU over the Q.D. Sling stud,
-
Insert the provided dowel pin through the SSU, and simultaneously
through the hole in the Q.D. stud,
-
Tighten the socket head set screw in the front SSU.
-
Reattach the and sling swivel to the surrogate sling hole in the back of
the SSU.
The
tightening of the locking set screw, actually places the SSU with the
dowel pin, under "traction". This force prevents the dowel pin from
coming out. Furthermore, absolutely no upward pressure is applied to the
firearms stock. This design feature allows the SSU to be attached to
firearms that utilize barrel band clamp Q.D.s, (e.g. Marlin 336,
Winchester 94, many shotguns).
The attachment to a shotgun, provides a great rest for turkey hunters. |
