| In rifle scopes, the reticle can be positioned
in the first (objective-sided) or second (ocular-sided) image plane. If the reticle is in the first image plane (objective-sided) of a variable magnification rifle scope, the reticle will be magnified in direct proportion to an increase in magnification. If, however, the reticle is positioned in the second image plane (ocular-sided), the image is magnified, but not the reticle. |
