Volume II continues the series' in-depth examination of U.S.M.C. Sniping. It opens with a Desert Storm Sniper-kill report and includes the latest Marine Corps Sniper rifle purchases. Scopes, rifles, ghillie suits and war stories. Volume II includes book reviews, sniping tips, unusual stuff, and lots of informed opinions, ( including pertinent names)--nothing is omitted. Not merely a collection of gun and equipment photographs, Marine Corps Sniping Volume II, includes heretofore unpublished serial numbers, lists of confirmed kills, and personal scrutiny of actual combat tested Scout Snipers.Volume II is a solid material that combines a reference work with the real world of the finest warrior marksmen ever trained--The United States Marine Corps Scout Snipers. This book has a great informational style, presented in large, readable script, and a huge assemblage of thoroughly captioned photographs. Volume II resumes its look at the arena of the Marine Corps Sniper.

Volume III Marine Corps Sniping continues the ground work laid by Volume I and Volume II, and attempts to tell the stories, history, and weaponry of USMC Snipers. This book discusses many aspects of sniping that the writers both like and do not like. These aspects are elaborated on and discussed in detail. For example, variable power telescopic sights such as the 10x. We also delve into fringe subjects a bit more than some might appreciate. Confirmed kills during recent conflicts sometimes make the politically correct a bit twitchy. We do not share that unease. A Scout Sniper's successes should be proudly acknowledged. Volume III is a reference work . It is solid material that is certainly more than just a collection of guns and scopes. This book is written for USMC Snipers and for those who may some day command Snipers. We also wish the less initiated to understand the value of Snipers (they can and have turned battles.), and to appreciate the world of the finest warrior marksmen ever trained-- The United States Marine Corps Scout Snipers.

The Marine Corps Sniping series had been planned as a trilogy, but the first three volumes were so enthusiastically received and so much information came in that it has been found necessary to continue. The fifth volume will be available Feb 1998. We seem to have tapped into a mighty river of knowledge, experience, and interest. It is as if hundreds of snipers have been waiting for their stories to be told, and other hundreds of other readers are intensely interested in what has gone before, is happening now, and what is expected to happen in USMC Sniping. Volume IV continues to report, editorialize, and speculate on Marine Corps Scout Sniping. We write for snipers and those interested in the art. Much of what we write is not considered politically correct. Sniping, it sometimes seems, is supposed to be efficiently carried out, but no one is supposed to publicly mention or notice the dangerous and demanding duty. The Scout Sniper really is an enemy's worse nightmare. The Scout Sniper is the Marine Corps' most potent and cost effective weapon, but until the Corps is willing to stand up and recognize the effectiveness and the Scout Sniper's essentiality, the Sniper's role will continue to be misunderstood, mismanaged, and downgraded.

This is the final volume in the Death From Afar series. The authors will continue to write about sniping under different titles but collectors can be assured that the DFA series is completed. As the editions are limited, DFA collectors can safely speculate that their purchases will increase in rarity and value. This five book series has helped move military sniping from the shadows into the mainstream of military thought. Sniping has piqued the imaginations of countless individuals both in and out of services, and no longer are Scout Snipers viewed as mysterious individuals peculiarly armed for nefarious missions.

Here is the complete story of a most significant era in modern small arms development. Beginning with WWI, Peter Senich details the adaptation of the bolt action Mauser 98 for long range sniping and covers the special measures needed to ensure the rifle's accuracy. Moving on to World War II, Senich discusses the venerable Mauser Karabiner 98k and the various novel mounting systems used to adapt it to optical sights. More than 600 exceptional photographs detail every facet of these significant weapons and the men who used them. Senich explores noteworthy aspects of Nazi sniping history, including the experimental role played by the Selbstladegewehr 41 and 43 selective fire assault rifles, definitive marking identification information for all relevant sniping mounts, optical sights, and rifles; and a separate chapter of interviews with Germany's top three master snipers of World War II.
